"Our company is committed to delivering holidays which exceed customer’s expectations, in both enjoyment and price, and therefore continually strive to identify new cost savings wherever they may exist. We instructed CVS to challenge our Rateable Values across all our sites in order to see if any savings could be made. We are delighted with the results and will be using the money we have saved to maintain the excellent standards of accommodation and facilities offered across the South West coast."

Laura Boucher, Finance Director, John Fowler Holidays

John Fowler Holidays operate holiday parks across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall. With over 50 years of experience, they are dedicated to providing fun and affordable family holidays in the most sought after locations in the West Country. CVS were instructed to find out if the company’s rates liability could be lowered across its numerous sites in various coastal towns.

Results

Following an extensive assessment taking into account the size, facilities and turnover of each site, an appeal for each location was lodged with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). By demonstrating that inaccurate and utdated evidence had been used to calculate the rateable values across 11 sites, CVS have managed to save them over £679,000 across the seven year Rating List.

CVS Comment:

"We believed a number of the sites were over-valued produced a compelling case of evidence for the VOA to reassess their valuations. Fundamental information such as the number of caravans on a site was incorrect, having an adverse affect on the Rateable Values assigned. Rateable Values for leisure parks, hotels, pubs and restaurants take trade information – or turnover – into account. It is only by providing the most up to date figures from the client that we are able to produce the right evidence to obtain a revaluation. The reductions we achieved across 11 sites were very satisfying."
